Catholics and Abortion - There is NO COMPROMISE!!!

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to what Catholic can accept or not regarding abortion. There are those, especially in politics who speak of compromise.

Let's make one thing clear: THERE IS NO COMPROMISE WITH EVIL. - No matter whose mouth it's coming from, or how beautiful it looks, or how much cream it's got on top of it.... Think of it as manure - no matter how much cream you put on it it will never have pleasant results!!!

Here's what the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in relation to abortion - some of this material will also pertain to why embryonic stem cell research is unethical and immoral:

"2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae," "by the very commission of the offense," and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being. Prenatal diagnosis is morally licit, "if it respects the life and integrity of the embryo and the human fetus and is directed toward its safe guarding or healing as an individual. . . . It is gravely opposed to the moral law when this is done with the thought of possibly inducing an abortion, depending upon the results: a diagnosis must not be the equivalent of a death sentence"

2322 From its conception, the child has the right to life. Direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, is a "criminal" practice (GS 27 § 3), gravely contrary to the moral law. The Church imposes the canonical penalty of excommunication for this crime against human life."

HR 3200 - From health care to extermination care

This post will be continuously updated with any information I can get relating to HR3200. The proposal for a NHS (national health system) here in the US is preposterous. People do not realize what is to come.

As one who has experienced NHS in both Europe and Australia from the inside (i.e. employed within the system), I can vouch that it is NOT what this country needs. It will ruin the health care record this country has. Moreover, a so called health care bill that has provisions for abortion and death counselling is NOT a health care bill but a EUGENICS bill designed to eliminate "undesirables".

1. Let's start by giving a taste of what this type of system is like overseas. Here's an article from the UK newspaper, the Telegraph, in an article called "'Cruel and neglectful' care of one million NHS patients expose".

2. The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says that country's system is "sick" Read more in this article "Overhauling health-care system tops agenda at annual meeting of Canada's doctors"

3. From the UK, patients with terminal illnesses are being made to die prematurely under an NHS scheme. Read on... "Sentenced to death on the NHS"

More to come.... stay tuned

God bless
