Moral relativism, "newspeak", schizophrenia and split personality - the symptoms and disease in our current administration

Politicians in general appear to suffer from various psychiatric disorders. The list would probably involve writing a book but, suffice it to say that, the gravest of these are schizophrenia - as they are unable to maintain a coherent personality, and split personality - as they appear to be able to be on both sides of an issue at the same time. The current administration appears to excel beyond all expectations in these "capabilities" especially in matters of morality.

They epitomize moral relativism in their ability to support an issue in one place and contradict it in an other - thus an issue becomes relative to where a person is (sounds like Einstein's Theory of Relativity). They personify "newspeak" defined by George Orwell in his book "1984" as "the only language in the world whose vocabulary gets smaller every year" - and this is because they repeat the same words but mean something totally different. And yet we trust our country and ourselves in their hands!!!!

This here is the latest example. This is a quote from President Obama's remarks at the Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony. The sources are cited at the end of the quote.

I received this from a friend of mine who did not take credit for the parallel as he said, there are already those who have made this parallel. His comment to me was as follows "A fitting tribute, in my estimation...but does it sound eerily like abortion to you?" I need add no more....read on for yourself!!!

"It is the grimmest of ironies that one of the most savage, barbaric acts of evil in history began in one of the most modernized societies of its time, where so many markers of human progress became tools of human depravity: science that can heal, used to kill; education that can enlighten, used to rationalize away basic moral impulses; the bureaucracy that sustains modern life, used as the machinery of mass death, a ruthless, chillingly efficient system where many were responsible for the killing, but few got actual blood on their hands" (source: The Jewish Standard;Real Clear Politics)

President Obama's address to National Academy of science - Monday 4/27/09

I just received a university email with the President's speech to the National Academy of Science - which I thought would be of interest to at least some. The speech can be accessed from the White House Press Office. I wanted to point towards a few things that struck me, just skimming through it. I had to do this analysis because in my field all of this affects me directly - very directly. Material quoted from the speech is below in non-italicized bold.

He talks about ”...more complex set of challenges” that we are facing “more than we ever have before”; about “...a medical system that holds the promise of unlocking new cures and treatments - attached to a health care system that holds the potential to bankrupt families and businesses...” and ultimately of “Threats to our security that seek to exploit the very interconnectedness and openness so essential to our prosperity." – This begs the question – in reference to research – which is the context he’s talking in – does this mean anybody that disagrees with medical but morally reprehensible “advances” such as Embryonic stem cell research or even people who oppose abortion (especially say in situations where the baby is known to be handicapped) is threatening security that seeks “to exploit the very interconnectedness and openness so essential to our prosperity.”....Is this a veiled reference to condoning eugenics?

Think I’m being paranoid – far from it – I know the mentality of the majority of the people associated with these organizations and MANY (not all) but a very good number – are ready and able to do anything.

His speech is full of contradictions - He mentions how the time for science in the back seat is over; how “Our progress as a nation - and our values as a nation - are rooted in free and open inquiry.” And he seems to forget the stifling that has taken place over and over again of scientists who express their beliefs in God openly. He mentions how undermining “scientific integrity is to undermine our democracy” and yet we can’t be democratic enough to let a child in a womb live!!!!

He talks about charging the White house office of Science and Technology Policy “with leading a new effort to ensure that federal policies are based on the best and most unbiased scientific information. I want to be sure that facts are driving scientific decisions - and not the other way around” – It IS out there regarding embryonic stem cell research vs adult; it’s out there regarding condoms/contraception vs abstinence etc. etc.etc.

And then he has the gaul to bring in morality and truth!!!! He concludes:

"At root, science forces us to reckon with the truth as best as we can ascertain it. Some truths fill us with awe. Others force us to question long held views. Science cannot answer every question; indeed, it seems at times the more we plumb the mysteries of the physical world, the more humble we must be. Science cannot supplant our ethics, our values, our principles, or our faith, but science can inform those things, and help put these values, these moral sentiments, that faith, to work - to feed a child, to heal the sick, to be good stewards of this earth."

This whole paragraph is contradictory and hypocritical – science “reckoning the truth”? Science and humility??? – That’s the TRUTH AND REALITY BEHIND TRUE AND HONEST SCIENCE BUT NOT with this administration or the current leaders at NAS, SFN or other similar organizations. Science and ethics? How can he say that science cannot “supplant” our ethics and values – when he’s giving them the go-ahead, AGAINST ALL EVIDENCE, to say, embark on embryonic stem cell research which goes against both ethics and values!!!!

There is an obstinacy in this speech along with all that this administration is doing. We need to stand up to it, fight it and pray…because ultimately it is an immense moral battle.

God bless America - and have mercy on us all

God bless you all.

4/16/09

In the past couple of days the Department of Homeland Security issued a document on right-wing extremist groups. This report is very disturbing for a different reason than anyone would suspect. It is explicit in its content and clearly an attack on innate moral fundamentals given to us by our Creator as well as being an attack against the fundamental moral teachings of our faith (which obviously come from our Creator) that are now to be considered as "right-wing extremism". To read click on the following links - one is the original document from the Department of Homeland Security (Regarding abortion, same-sex marriage see pg2 footnote and pg 4 of the document); the other is an independent report about the document.

For many, the right to practice your faith is a given, especially in this country founded on the principles of such intrinsic liberties. For many also, communism and fascism where things we read about - at least for those who bothered to learn history and be aware of what has happened in the world around us in the time history has been documented.

From its institution the United States has been a defender of human rights and liberties, so much so that these values are entwined in the writing of the early fathers as well as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

However, things seem to continue turning. Civil liberties, Religious liberties continue to come under attack - an increasing amount of attacks for that matter with each day that passes. It is becoming a crime, or an act of hatred according to the government, to support and believe in the sanctity of life, to believe in the sanctity of marriage......etc etc.

There was a time when all human life was considered sacred. The Catholic Church still does consider it sacred....Many other so called churches continue to water down their beliefs to suit trends rather than teach the truth (case in point Pastor Rick Warren -- author of the multi-million selling book The Purpose Driven Life; pastor of Saddleback, one of the largest churches in the country and deeply influential -- going back on his support of Proposition 8 - which supported marriage as being only that between man and woman). This inability to stand by the truth of many Christians, including many wishy-washy so called Catholics, has has been the reason for this deterioration...Many in our society have contributed to allowing the moral fabric of our society to be eroded - Now there is a price to pay!!!

Now where do you think we're heading.....Oh....for a better idea - read George Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm"....Read them quick and wake up!

God bless (+)
